Commercial Description:
This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

On tap at Horsens Beerfestival. Black, with a small tan head. Coffee, chocolate, licorice and roasted notes in the aroma and flavor. Full body. Coffee-bitter finish. Lovely stout. Rating: 8-4-8-4-16-4. 061028

Bottle, 10 months past BB-date. It’s a well-carbonated almost black beer with a minimal beige to tan head. Very coffeeish on the nose, with mocha and prunes. Some licorice and hints of tar too. Full-bodied and quite effervescent in the mouth, with a long licorice and burnt malt finish where mocha also is a contributor. The initial flavor is on the coffee-side, with licorice, some tar and a hint of smoke. Prunes, molasses notes and mocha. Some notes of hops, but more sweet than bitter, but actually rather dry. There’s also a fine touch of sourness all the way, I suspect that might be because of the age, but it just adds a nice little twist to the beer. A true beauty. 091004

Black body, creamy brown head, some laces; Hoppy, malty and coffee like nose, flowers and ripe grapefruit, malty warm, spiced from the coffee; Huge big bubbled carbonation in actually not to big a body, only a little bitter; Finishes medium long with quite some aroma: pine and warm coffee, some fill. Not really balanced and not really anything special.

Pours a deep black with a bubbly brown head. Slightly sour aroma, with some coffee, dark chocolate, chestnut, and smoke. The palate is very bitter and full, giving some great coffee and chocolate flavours, as well as some fuggle flavours that didn’t seem to surface in the aroma. The beer shows good balance and has a quite alcoholic/coffee finish.
