Commercial Description:
This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

Tap @ Nørrebro Bryghus. Aroma of roasted coffee/chocolate malts, some rye in it. Sweet, malty chocolate/coffee taste, some bitterness. Medium bodied. A good no nonsense stout.

Draught at Nørrebro Bryghus. Black, Black and Black. I love this stout. Coffee, chokolate, malty, roasted, sweet, hoppy, bitterness - from chokolate and hop. Hmmmm nice.

Draught, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Black with a reddish hue. Light brown head. Gentle roasted coffee aromas. Flavourwise is where this beer has its force. Wonderful coffee infusion. Rich and malty. A little caramel and nougat.

Draught. Deep black with a small mocha-ish head. The aroma has a crazy amount of coffee beans - unrefined, ripe beans as opposed to some other coffee stouts I’ve tried. There isn’t much else that pulls through in the aroma but just the coffee itself intrigues me. Lots of coffee flavour but it’s not straight out bitter - there is a good deal of sweetness that I think could be done without and perhaps done in drier style. Sampled at the brewpub in Copenhagen on May 18, 2006.

Draught at KØ 2006. What is it with all you coffee lovers on this site? To my opinion a beer should taste and smell like a beer. I admit that I’m not that fond of coffee stout or porter so you have to accept my low rating of this beer. It has a very pronounced aroma of cold Nescafé with a hint of licorice in the background. The taste is balanced but a bit thin, but that is ok in a stout. Not very expressive and relying on the coffee taste overall.

At the brewery. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of cold coffee which may sound bad, but is really great. The flavour is quite bitter, but it is a soft ’coffee bitterness’ that is balanced superbly by a light sweetness. Palate is creamy, slightly oily with a soft carbonation. Long coffee aftertaste that almost puts you on the rich sloaps of a Mexican volcano. This is extremely drinkable. Persuaded a couple of ’not beer nerdy’ friends of mine (I have them, who said I don’t!) to try it, and they loved it too.
