| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2006 Draught. Deep black with a small mocha-ish head. The aroma has a crazy amount of coffee beans - unrefined, ripe beans as opposed to some other coffee stouts I’ve tried. There isn’t much else that pulls through in the aroma but just the coffee itself intrigues me. Lots of coffee flavour but it’s not straight out bitter - there is a good deal of sweetness that I think could be done without and perhaps done in drier style.

To my opinion a beer should taste and smell like a beer. I admit that I’m not that fond of coffee stout or porter so you have to accept my low rating of this beer. It has a very pronounced aroma of cold Nescafé with a hint of licorice in the background. The taste is balanced but a bit thin, but that is ok in a stout. Not very expressive and relying on the coffee taste overall. henrik (41), Århus, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2006 At the brewery. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of cold coffee which may sound bad, but is really great. The flavour is quite bitter, but it is a soft ’coffee bitterness’ that is balanced superbly by a light sweetness. Palate is creamy, slightly oily with a soft carbonation. Long coffee aftertaste that almost puts you on the rich sloaps of a Mexican volcano. This is extremely drinkable. Persuaded a couple of ’not beer nerdy’ friends of mine (I have them, who said I don’t!) to try it, and they loved it too.
