Commercial Description:
This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

600 ml bottle from Ølkonsortiet, Ålborg. Pours black with a 1" creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and red fruits. Taste is smooth and complex, me noticing the liquorice first, yummi, but there’s also coffee, toffee and a deep malty base, wonderful. Ends rather quick and dissapointing, give me more...

Large bottle. Interesting stout. Not as sweet as I expected and very little chocolate taste. Instead predominant tastes are licorice, smoke, bitter. A bit too carbonated. Good not great.

Bottle - Mondial de la Bière, Montréal. Pours a black body with a thin beige creamy head. Nice, robust malty/hoppy aroma with cocoa and roasty hints. Taste carries coffeeish notes as well. Ends with a decent, warming bitter/roasty finish. Very enjoyable.

Sweet cocoa/ roasted malt aroma. Flavor or sweet chocolate. Good malt base, and a tinge of hops.

2009-06-06. Black body with a modest tan head. (3+) Odd muddled coffee notes in the aroma, mild dark roast. (6+) Flavour is interesting - touch of spice that makes me think of peppers is unexpected, and random. Less of the coffee notes from the aroma, but still a bite. Muddled, touch dilute, muted chocolate undertones. (6+) Average palate is smooth, lightly carbonated. Odd, but okay. Bottle at Mondial 2009, Montreal

Bottle Mondial 2009. Enticing aroma of roast coffee, dark chocolate and fine malt, jet black pours a small toffee head. Flavour is a huge coffee, roast malt and dark chocolate. Full bodied, very well balanced, bitter, bold and beautiful. It’s a Grand-ja beer!
