Commercial Description:
This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

Black with a thick brown head. Sweet chocolate aroma and flavor. Thin to medium body with a thin rather watery finish.

Rich, smoky aroma is strong and has undertones of molasses and unsweetened chocolate as well as a hint of coffee. It pours an opaque sable just a whisker from jet black, and the head is thick and pale tan though not too persistent. Flavor is quite mouth-filling and has elements of fine coffee, unsweetened chocolate, molasses and a teeny bit of caramel. It is a little sweet but not cloying. Texture is smooth and tingly, leaving a smoky, slightly sweet, lip-smacking finish.

Deep dark brown coloured body with almost no head at all, and no sound of much carbonation when popped open. Aroma of roasted malt, brown sugar, ginger, tobacco, Worcestershire sauce, mushrooms and a touch of coffee. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong sweet and pungent malty flavours with definite caramel, brown sugar, musty coffee tastes coming through all on top of a big cloud of alcohol and astute meaty flavours. Aftertaste shows a lot of the potency, some of it lost in the sweetness, but this one definitely has some odd and long-lasting flavours. Overall, not such a great beer, and more of a baltic porter to me than a sweet stout, especially looking at the appearance and the malt profile. I wouldn’t recommend this one, especially considering the price. I sampled this 60 cL bottle purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida on 15-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 03-December-2009.

bottle. black under a small, stable, creamy brown head. espresso, coffee with cream aroma. a medium bodied stout with a mild-moderate carbonation. not too sweet really. flavors of milk chocolate and some bitter coffee. not really picking up the spices or licorice. creamier and more flavorful as it warms.

Bottle. Kinda tastes like chocolate milk. Very tasty. Opaque brown/black pour. Smell is like an espresso roast...but not overpowering, unfortunately. Taste isn’t as coffee-ish as I had hoped. Definite roasty flavor and smooth texture. Not bad overall.

Rating #200. 05-SEP-2009, bottle @home. On opening the bottle, I spill some. My fingers become quite sticky, and the lable says dessert beer, so my expectations are towards a very sweet beer. But it is not really. Very dark brown with high creamy head. Mostly coffee on the nose, but also other roasted aromas. Quite sweet, but the coffee bitternesss balances it. No alcohol can be detected. Very fine beer for a #200 rating. In my book it could be used for dessert, but I happily sipped it with football (DK-POR). Oh, and it is the "national" beer day, and this was a fine celebration.

Dark brown with a tan head. Big coffee/mocha aromas. Medium body. Mildly astringent coffee flavor with milk chocolate. A little on the thin side.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a opaque dark ruby red brown colored body and a oily lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and burnt malt. The mildly vinous mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt mildly vinous dark malt and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Mondial 2009, Montreal. Almost black with a medium brown head. It smells dry, somehow. Not dusty. Dry. Black coffee, cocoa powder, and roast in there, too. Lots of coffee in the flavour, along with anise and roast. Some caramel sweetness. Good stout.
