Medium sized fizzy tan head that mostly diminished, mostly opaque black body, one ring of lacing, and very little carbonation observed. The aroma is roasty, chocolate, coffee, some nuttiness, and malty. The flavor is malty, roasty, licorice, coffee, chocolate, some dark fruits, hint of bitterness, and a dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and this is a medium bodied porter. Overall, this is a very quaffable beer, I enjoyed the taste of it, worthy of a try, and a beer I would drink again.

Fantastic aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Nutty chocolatey flavour. Texture was rich and creamy. If you like porters, you’ll love this one. MrBunn (1541), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Bottle. If it weren’t for the price, I would have tried this MUCH earlier. Aromas are fantastic... they rise above the thin (yet dark) brown body and are detectable from a distance. Lots of roasty coffee malt, chocolate (dark) maybe a little prune-like dark fruit. Flavor is similar, and even though the mouthfeel is kind of watery, the flavor is pretty full and robust. It’s odd stuff and I find myself liking this, but wouldn’t pay the price for a second bottle. Maybe if it is on a 75% off sale or something... daknole (2971), Plantation, Florida, USA

Pours a very deep dark brown, almost black with only the faintest of mahogany edges when held to a light source. Completely opaque with a two finger frothy beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring.
Roasted malt aroma with hints of chocolate, caramel, oatmeal, nut, toffee, toast, honey, molasses and subtle hops. The deep roasted scent is nicely balanced by the sweetness of the cocoa and honey.
Smokey roasted malt flavor with hints of coffee, chocolate, toffee, oatmeal, hazelnut and toast. The sweetness of the honey, as well as the chocolate, provide a nice balance to the deep roasted malt profile. The mouthfeel is not as thick as I hoped with the addition of honey. It basically has the same feel as an average porter and it seems as if the honey has an affect just on the flavor, adding sweetness. Slight hop presence in the finish providing a very slight bitter dry finish. Well balanced and easy drinking with no trace of alcohol heat. Decent. marcus (1877), Sacramento, California, USA
