Doggythedog (1020), Split, Croatia Sep 16, 2008 As "Norrlands Guld 7,2", 0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!) Poured a golden body with a small white head. Bready malty nose, some very light notes of lemon. Dull, ordinary ESL taste, but still not offensive. Sweet, sticky grainy maltiness, a bit fruity, cardboardy and chalky. Slightly stale, but the alcohol doesn’t hog the taste, which is a positive thing. heavy (503), Split, Croatia Sep 16, 2008 As Norrlands Guld 7,2 in a 0.5 l bottle brought from Sweden by my friend Sina, thank a lot! It had pale yellow body with medium-sized head. Flower malty and a bit lemony hoppy aroma, which makes it more like an European Strong Lager than typical Malt Liquor. Flavor is quite boring, pretty tasteless grainy and flower malty with some sourish hop notes. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied with pleasant, longer sweetish finish. Quite OK for me, although nothing special. More like an ESL. MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Sep 10, 2008 Can, 7.2%. Weak fruity aroma. Clear golden colour. Small white head. Grainy flavour, slightly sweet. Not sticky or anything. Sour grain aftertaste. EHSRanders (714), Randers C, Denmark Sep 5, 2008 Can. Clear golden colour with medium creamy white mostly lasting head. Malty aroma. Sweet alcoholic flavor. FatPhil (2367), Espoo, Finland Aug 17, 2008 440ml bottle - shared by MiP - thanks!
Cardboard aroma at first, and briefly some esters. Big sweet fruity estery taste - almost steambeer-like. Soft palate, and almost no sense of alcohol unless you swirl it around the mouth, but still the esters help cover that. Very drinkable strong lager. Best of the Norrlands Gulds that I’ve tried - an interesting side-by-side tasting. Thanks MiP for providing the juice!
