North By Northwest Barrel-aged Amber Ale

(Draught) Pours a deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, barnyard, herbs, and leather. Flavor is funky (pedo, lacto, brett), wood, caramel, and grain with a dry finish.

GABF 2009. Met the guys from this brewery at Great Divide also. Pretty funny and big drinkers. Their kriek was awesome, but this one was not so much. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a white head. Aroma is bretty tartness, caramel malt, and citrus. Flavor is a bit unpleasant and "catty" (urine notes), but not terrible. Brett, caramel, wood, and tart lemon also. Palate is medium-light and slightly astringent. This may have been the wrong beer to throw into the barrel.

GABF 2009: Pours a slightly hazed dull shade of orangish brown and sports a speckled head. The nose is solventy and bleachy...but, that could have led to something interesting...and it did, interestingly bad. Bad flavors abound. Solventy grains, dirt, cardboard, solvent, solvent, solvent. Thin water mouthfeel..and grainy beyond belief.
