| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Bottle at the RBSG grand tasting on 6/23/07: Pours a hazy dark ruby pink with a thin-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet fruity cherries and some complex oak and tartness, very enticing. Body starts with a full dissolved carbonation and some lightly sweet fruity cherries and lots of tartness before a drier, lightly oaky complex finish. Very well balanced, authentic and enjoyable. Deep, deep red and purple colour with a thick sticky pink-red head. Aroma is loaded with sweet cherry aroma. A little bit of tartness, but not at all similar to the flemish red. There is a soft cinnamon aroma as well. A little bit acetic, but this character is a lot less restrained than in the flemish red as well. Soft spiciness mingling nicely with the cherry skins and pits. Soft yogurty lactic tartness... nice warm nutmeg spiciness. Quite rich, sweet and fruity. This is damn tasty stuff. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

Nose is fantastic - prickly, seedy, pitty cherries and fresh, tart raspberries with a light cream and a light lactic funk. Creamy, oily, full and frothy texture. Slick and sweet at one time and then tart, dry and funky at others. An excellent dessert beer, comparable to New Glarus Belgian Red but less sweet and more dry, which I prefer. cgarvieuk (4191), Edinburgh, Scotland
