North By Northwest Northern Light

Had on tap at the brewpub with Cavie while visiting Austin. All I had written down was "Tasted a bit boozy... especially for a light beer" and my rating.

smells of corn and Bud grain .. . medium head . . wow, pretty tangy .. pretty sweet .. . the best tasting BMC clone i have had, weird i know .. kiss a fool, help a holy man, relieve betrayal of a loved one ...

On tap at the brewpub. Pale yellow in color with a small white head. Aroma is of corn flakes. Taste is of corn meal and frosted flakes cereal.

Clear yellow, weak aroma. Decent taste with a decent finish. A fairly standard offering.

On draft at the brewhouse. Pretty much a typical light american pale lager. Grainy with a slight bit of apples. Nothing really new here.

On tap. Clear pale yellow straw colored typical pale lager. Light smell of malts, touch of hops, and corn. Taste is weak and the same and the smell.

Draught. Very light grain aroma, and I mean VERY light, nearly odorless. Absolutely clear with the slightest yellow hue. Flavor is similarly devoid of anything noticeable except a very slight pilsner malt presence. Palate is surprising full-bodied and assertive. It creates a very odd sensation, like very thick water. The tongue is tricked into thinking that there’s beer around somewhere, but the taste buds are not fooled.
