Poured a dark, almost reddish brown with a decent amount of head. Aroma was caramel and roasted; bit of chocolate. Flavor was very drinkable for the style with a nice blend of chocolate, caramel and fruity malts. Good for the style. kidmartinek (1000), austin, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Sampler at NXNW- standard black with off tan head, perhaps 10% transparency, aroma of light roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a good medium wide body, can detect alot of the malt, finish very slightly bitter. Not bad, not bad at all. jujubeast6000 (795), Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Somehow I got apples in the smell yet again. Also some light malty roasted smells. Pour was a nice rich maroon to brown. Taste was decent, simple, a touch watery, and roasty, with basically no hops or bitterness. Very drinkable, and I could definitely get it again if in the mood for this type of beer. Actually better than the only other 2 Schwarzbiers I’ve had. churchill00 (154), Austin, Texas, USA

The waiter told me to expect a strong taste of chocolate, which I did not. Very dark, a bit sweet, light finish. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
