Commercial Description:
This rich, malty dark ale is reminiscent of the smooth ales produced by the Weltenberg Brewery in Northwestern Germany. The Pilsner, Caravienne, Munich, Chocolate, Black malts and Roasted Barley give this great dark ale a creamy, roasted malt flavor, which is perfectly balanced with Cascade hops.

Draft - Clear brown, light tan fizzy head. Nose held notes of soft dusty cocoa, mild coffee, and hints of citrus. Light nutty flavors throughout with additional notes of cocoa, coffee. Whatever the ABV was, it showed up just a bit along with light sourness to boot. Light bodied, soft carbonation, softly sour, cocoa finish. Ehhh...

Tap. Dark translucent body with a ring of bubbles. Taste-honey, very malty, light husk and straw. Residual sweetness. Very cereal like. This is better than I thought that it would be, but still...

White head on a black body with abundant light shining through this dark ale. Flavor is strange... similar to the black-soba from Rogue with a twangy vegetable and cream flavor. Bland and flavorless with a mild, pasty palate and an aroma that stinks of milk and vegetables. The only good qualities about it are that the bad flavors are not strong at all. Very subtle.

Medium brown color. A little bit of roasted malt in the aroma and flavor. Not sure where they were trying to go with this beer. It has some decent qualities of different styles, but overall is weak.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Austin. Dark brown fading to black appearance with. Flavor has a bit of a roasty flavor. Has a decent malty backbone, but overall, is rather bland. Mouthfeel is decent enough, but needs work.

Shows promise and then lays down and dies. Utter dissapointment. Good thing I only got the sampler at this place.

Light brown color with a thin lacey off-white head. Mildy sweet and lightly roasted aroma. Body is dry with some grainy caramel malt flavor and candy sweetness. A nicely drinkable dark ale.
