Commercial Description:
This rich, malty dark ale is reminiscent of the smooth ales produced by the Weltenberg Brewery in Northwestern Germany. The Pilsner, Caravienne, Munich, Chocolate, Black malts and Roasted Barley give this great dark ale a creamy, roasted malt flavor, which is perfectly balanced with Cascade hops.

It was not as dark as the name may suggest...it looked like a brown ale. I would best describe this as a turbodog with an excellent hop finish. I like turbodog a lot and this is just the icing on the cake. Caramel, spice, and hops make this a very quaffable brew.

Coffee/chocolate in the aroma and flavor, some alcohol presence, which seems to strengthen in the finish into something that resembles a scotch-taste, although it is quite smooth in the end. Very nice! Easily the best beer in the house.

I had a speech to give at a banquet for a student organization at this place, and a handful of these took enough edge off for me to not make an ass of myself. A little carmel and a little scotch, but a lot of flavor.

Draught. Sweet fruity nose with light caramel, cherry, and raspberry. Deep ruby color with patches of a swirly white head. Alcohol present amongst caramel and aforementioned fruit flavors, light roastiness and chocolate. Very nice. Thin but assertive palate. Solid all around.

Dark brown pour. Sweet aroma. Taste is roasted nuts with a gentle tingle. Nice.

On tap. Brown color, beige head, and clear. Smell is malty, toasty, and chocolate. Taste is a good deep malty roastiness. Good beer. Best of their regular beers.

Light brown color with a thin lacey off-white head. Mildy sweet and lightly roasted aroma. Body is dry with some grainy caramel malt flavor and candy sweetness. A nicely drinkable dark ale.

On tap at the brewpub; surprsingly this was my favorite on the night. Poured a dark, almost reddish brown with a decent amount of head. Aroma was caramel and roasted; bit of chocolate. Flavor was very drinkable for the style with a nice blend of chocolate, caramel and fruity malts. Good for the style.
