The_Epeeist (915), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2008 16.9 oz bottle. Ebony with a creamy tan head. Nose is bourbon, chocolate cake and dusty barrel. Medium body with a few prickles followed by a sinus clearing shot of bourbon. Taste is primarily bourbon but nicely balanced with chocolate, dark roast and a touch of licorice. Well brewed. yespr (6162), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From 22 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black and with a creamy tan head. Aroma is dense barrel and roasted malt with a light liqourice note. Flavour is dense malty and liqourice in a complex and flavourful mix. Solid roasted and liqourice finish with clearly warming alcohol presence. TURDFERGUSON (1115), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle shared by yobdoog at BCTC. Thanks Trevor! Nose is roasty. These are all the notes I took. But I did write down some numbers, so I guess I’ll just enter them. It was a long day of drinking so give me a break. aleyin (9), Murrieta, Alabama, USA does not count Jul 27, 2008 Somehow I was able to hold this 16.9 oz bottle for a whole year! Pours a beautiful ebony which light doesn’t seem to be able to pass through. Wonderful bourbon aroma. Tan head. Bourbon, chocolate, caramel, oak,& coffee are pronounced yet well balanced. Bourbon flavor lets you forget that your drinking a brewery product. It doesn’t let you drink swiftly but relax to enjoy to the fullest. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Huge thanks to Boboski for this elusive treat. The aroma starts with bourbon, vanilla, oak and chocolate and further deep sniffs reveal stewed dark fruit, caramel and toffee. The body is deep black with a fairly large mocha head. Rich chocolate/cocoa on the first sip segues into fairly concentrated bourbon and perfumey alcohol. Caramelized and roasted malt notes also appear. The barrel aging seems to have thinned it some so it lacks a powerful flavor concentration, but it remains quite nice.
