mystery 2.0. Got a large fizzy tan head on a black/brown body. Poured a bit loose? NOse was great. Roasted chocolate and coffee. Nice coffee and roasted malt. Nice dry finish. Good solid stout.

Looks pretty darn good, nice subtle nose, a bit bready. Flavor and palate is a little thin, a bit metallic, some roast. Not too complex, but nothing to hold your nose at. Hard to complain for 6 a sixer.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joe’s, pours dark brown/black with an ample cream colored head that doesn’t last, not much lacing. Aroma is coffee and black malt with a little chocolate. Flavor is kind of thin, but I like big beers. Coffee and roasted malt, can’t really taste the hops. Very dry and neutral, a nice session beer. Doesn’t disappoint for the price.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark black with ample tan head. Nice, if faint, aroma of malt and coffee. Initial taste is just sparkly malt, but then coffee, chocolate/cocoa kick in. Nice subtle, dry finish. Not bad. Better than I was expecting.

From 12 oz bottle pours dark and nearly opaque with fading beige head. Slight roasty nose, with roastiness more present in taste with some chocolate notes and hops to balance. Dries out nicely.

Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a 1/2 inch dense foamy head. Aroma: Roasted malts that feature aromas of bread, chocolate, and a medium roasted coffee bean. Taste: Bready malt, some dark chocolate, and a small hop spice. Mouthfeel: I was expecting this to be not so carbonated, but it has a nice fizzy mouthfeel to it. Overall: A well made, flavorful stout. I enjoy this with some pretzels, or even by itself. Another great find at Trader Joe’s. I am glad some of the best craft brewers are lending a few tanks to some private label beer.

Some roasted malt smell with a coffee and chocolate aroma. Pours a black color with a hint of an amber hue, minimal tan head, too dificult to see the action and I swirled the last bit around and poured before taking notice to see if there was any sediment. A smooth sweet roasted malt taste, not burnt, with coffee and some chocolate, and has some fruity esters mainly a hint of lime with a dry finish. Full bodied, resinous and creamy dry feel, with frizzy soft carbonation. Another session bargain at TJs brewed in craft form.

Bottle. Blackish pour. Tan head. Aroma is very roasty and toasty with some hints of chocolate and molasses. Flavor follows the aroma with dry toastiness and bitter chocolate. For a stout style that I normally don’t care for i did enjoy this one.
