| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of slightly oxidized sweet dark caramel and milk chocolate. Starts somewhat thinner with a mild dark caramel and lactose sweetness before a drier finish. An ok dry stout, but seems pretty bland. Perhaps an older bottle, but it looks like the bottle itself was manufactured sometime in 2007. Ernest (4491), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Body is clear medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, nuts), lightly yeasty (dough), lightly hoppy (resin, apricots). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. A sour, simple, yeasty, unrefined example. And not even close to black in color. Cheers to Marc for the opportunity to try it! bhensonb (4306), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2007 Aromas of chocolate, coffee, darkly toasted malt. Opaque brown/black color with a tan head that endures. Thinnish, lightly carbonated. Starts with coffee, toasted malt (almost like the really old Guinness), and a light touch of chocolate. Dry it is. Very nice bitter to go with the carbonized malt in the finish. Really quite good.
