Commercial Description:
Originally brewed for Whole Foods. Belgian yeasts are legendary for the fruity flavor and floral bouquet they give beer. Hundreds are used by Belgian brewers and each is unique. Cru d'Or, a Belgian Style Abbey Ale is an homage to this magic ingredient and the result is a world class beer that is lush and profoundly aromatic with a warming finish. Being organic, Cru d'Or is brewed with the same reverence for pure ingredients as the Abbey and Farmhouse Belgian ales of the past. Delicious.

For some reason I expected this to be a golden ale. I was surprised with the brown color, sorta muddy looking, hardly any head. Light fruity aroma sort of perfumey. The beer is actually a little thin with a trace of molasses and caramel. Light carbonation. Forgettable.

This beer pours a deep amber with a small white head. When you first geet a whiff of this thing it takes you straight to a monastary, lots of florally sweet smells! The flavor taste just like you’d expect, very sweet and juicy. this is not a very bad belgian if you ask me! Cheers!

Pours hazy dark brown with a small rocky off-white head. Aroma is nice, cookies, toasted malts, carmel, hints of broth, dark fruits and apple. Flavor starts on the sweet side, toasted malts and carmel, finishes much the same. light to medium bodied, watery, oily and softly carbonated.

Dark blond with a small head. The smell is sweet with hints of eucalyptus. . . or perhaps banana cream pie? Flavor is also sweet with dried fruit; apricots, raisins, papaya. Tasty.

Copper-Amber Red pour with no head but on the edge of the glass. Dark fruit nose with raisins and cherries. Sweet malt. Taste much the same with an Amber style back bone. Medium bodied. Pear notes as well. Nice...

Bottle, pours dark amber red with little bubbles, sweet aroma, raisins, prunes, dried fruit, dark sweet sugar, light chocolate, faint alcohol and spices, little pepper, faint flower bouquet, malty sweet taste, hop bitterness, good mouthfeel, syrupy taste, some dubbel notes, pear and cherry taste, alcohol on the tongue as it warms up, this was more then I expected.

Typical overly sweet, under carbonated American interpretaiton of a Belgian. This is a mess that is going to get poured down my drain.

Smells fresh and spicy. An 11. A nice red-brown color. This is a pretty tasty belgian strong, with noticeable dubble characteristics. The alcohol is there in the aftertaste and the head disappears too quickly, but pretty good overall.
