Commercial Description:
Originally brewed for Whole Foods. Belgian yeasts are legendary for the fruity flavor and floral bouquet they give beer. Hundreds are used by Belgian brewers and each is unique. Cru d'Or, a Belgian Style Abbey Ale is an homage to this magic ingredient and the result is a world class beer that is lush and profoundly aromatic with a warming finish. Being organic, Cru d'Or is brewed with the same reverence for pure ingredients as the Abbey and Farmhouse Belgian ales of the past. Delicious.

12 oz. bottle. Pours mahogany orange-brown with respectable beige head. The aroma is lots of fruity esters-apricot, kumquat, peach, lime- with some lavender, leather, and raisin. The flavor is leather, dried apricots, raisin, and tannin. There’s a mellow, semi-sweet chocolate note to the finish, as well as a bit of herbal bitterness. Pretty good.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark mahogany color with a 2 finger beige head that dissipated quickly. Sweet malt and caramel on the nose, flavor was very Barley Wine esk but lighter in body....better than I was expecting.

This bottle was courtesy of bhensonb and I greatly appreciated it . From a 12 oz bottle this poured a rich mahogany color with a light tan head and good lacing. Nose of ripe fruit and some citrus and banana.. Very smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is complex with touches of burnt sugar. caramel malts, and wood. Alcohol shows in the finish. Good stuff.

Available at various Whole Foods supermarkets. Pours mahogoney brown with lots of white lace, moderate head in pour. Aroma of mollasses and pice, quite boozy. Taste is spicey peppery, and quite drying aftertaste. Cloves, ginger, chocolate malt, about average mouthfeel. A little too spicey to keep drinking. High carbonation.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dense, dark amber with 3 cm of quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, plums. Initial taste is sweet and fruity up front. Taste changes to become more balanced with some licorice and alcohol coming through. Light to medium body, light carbonation, light lacing, and moderate alcohol presence. Overall, my first organic beer and it wasn’t too bad.

Very interesting take on the syle. I got a bottle at my Total Wine. Nice amber pour wtih a whitish head. Aroma is very toffee, caramel, malt and some good yeast too. Flavor is nutty, sweet, malty, and pretty damn good. Very unique flavor. Not bad at all!

12 oz bottle. Pour is a deep hazy brown, but loses this as i am finishing the brew. Nose is caramel, graham, yeast, old banana, spice and alcohol. Flavor is initially somewhat unbalanced, but gradually collects itself the more you drink. A pretty good ale.
