Commercial Description:
Originally brewed for Whole Foods. Belgian yeasts are legendary for the fruity flavor and floral bouquet they give beer. Hundreds are used by Belgian brewers and each is unique. Cru d'Or, a Belgian Style Abbey Ale is an homage to this magic ingredient and the result is a world class beer that is lush and profoundly aromatic with a warming finish. Being organic, Cru d'Or is brewed with the same reverence for pure ingredients as the Abbey and Farmhouse Belgian ales of the past. Delicious.

Bottle: Amber with a nice, thick sandy colored head. Spicey aroma with fruit and yeast. Citrus and bananas. Some clove. Tastes malty and like banana bread. Nutty too. A bit earthy and dry. Some hints of the 8% in a creamy way...

Dep mahogan and airly clear. Small tan head. Rich carmel aroma. Brown sugar and raisons. Weird woody flavor with a husky bitter trailer. Full rich pallette and a noticeable abv. Dusty late flavor.

Bottle: Clear amber color with a small off-white head. Ripe, fat and war raisin aroma. And it also smells like some people’s breath the morning after a spicy meal. Leathery flavor as well as furniture polish, and some alcohol. Interesting aftertaste. I can’t quite nail it. Not bad.

Bottle. I actually was pretty turned off by this one. Pours a dark cloudy brownish amber with some head. The aroma is strong malt, yeast, and some chocolate. The taste is chocolate malt, alcohol, and something else I found to be offensive.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted, nutty, caramel and milk chocolate, light herbs and leather for the hops and yeast, with wine and toffee in the background. Head is small, fizzy, off white, with no lacing and is instantly diminishing. Color is murky brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium bodied, oily bordering on creamy, and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly alcoholic and slightly drying. Big on the malts, it lacked a large yeast profile but it’s definitely an enjoyable Belgian Strong.

Pours a nice amber color with a small head. Aroma of caramel, malt, yeasts and esthers. Flavor is banana, malt, yeasts, spices. Pretty good, but nothing spectacular.

bottle. aroma is akin to a tripel - spicy and lightly sweet. smooth full palate. light toasted caramel and bread flavors. a tad on the sweet side, but makes a nice sipper. alcohol gives it an edge but doesn’t detract at all. very nice and good for the price.
