checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 3, 2009 Bottle: Poured a bright hazy yellow with a thick white head. The aroma was grass, yeast, wheat, and coriander. The flavor was yeast, spice, wheat, orange, funk, and lemons. Overall, a high quality Saison from North Coast. jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Nov 2, 2009 From a bottle poured ahazy golden color with a fair amount of head. Nice malty grassy flavor with a quick finish. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 27, 2009 Nice honey orange with an off white foam. Aroma is spicy, orange, fruity, some honey. Taste is much more powerful, big dry spiciness, some oranges, yeasty must. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 26, 2009 Typical saison aroma and taste, but with a smooth malt background. Extreme head took forever to die. Beautifully cloudy golden color. walrussell (93), , Illinois, USA Oct 25, 2009 Very tasty - much better as it warms up - slight sweetness, dustiness, tropical fruit flavors - orange, pineapple, sourness. Hoppiness subtle. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Oct 5, 2009 Big sample from bottle in the WBF VIP tent (sounds fancy, but the food was much better than the beer). Very fruity saison, more so than spicy. I got tropical fruits, particularly pineapple notes. Not very earthy/musty/spicy for a saison, but that doesn’t seem to be what this beer is all about. More fruit/citrus/yeast. Different that way, but good. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 20, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy duller straw color with a medium fizzy bubbly but somewhat dense and creamy white froth. Aroma is strong of lemons and yeast, lightly sweet and citric, some vanilla fullness. Flavor is mostly dry, lemons, vanilla, yeast, wheaty, chalky, some light tropical fruit, mangos mostly. Medium bodied, lightly chalky, lots of active fizzy sharp carbonation, abundant, very dry finish. Even though it isn’t all that sweet, it’s still too sweet for me and without focus. Quick finish leaves a lingering meaty-yeast aftertaste. [NOTE: this is a really fantastic beer for cooking brats in... very very good] daknole (2804), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2009 Golden pour with a nice fluffy white head. Some light honey, lemon, spices, and a dry tart aroma. Flavor is a bit dry, yeast, lemony notes, and very fluffy mouthfeel.
