Roasted malt and somewhat wet woody hops note. Flavour is hardroasted malt and solid bitter. Goes into a more smooth flavour before the finish with a creamy texture containing notes of coffee and malt. Mild chocolate note too. Dry bitter finish with more of the same roasted malt flavour coming through. theslats (6), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Pours dark with a dark tan head. Lots of roasted malts with dark chocolate and coffee. Decent balance from hops at first but to much sweetness on the finish. Could be a lot better if not for the lingering sweetness. On tap at Humpy’s in Anchorage. Watery. Roasted coffee. Not very memorable. IlanMan (818), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2008 Pour is dark with medium fluffy tan head. Aroma is of bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is somewhat sweet with more cocoa flavor as well as very light hints of coffee and a toasted malt. Coffee prevails a little more in the finish. Not much hop bitterness. Very smooth and well blended. Does have a dry finish. The more I drink it, the more I like it. Good brew. Would buy again. BMan1113VR (2890), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | May 23, 2008 Dark body, thin lacing head. Taste :Choc, malt, raisin. Lite to medium head, dry finish. Nice aftertaste. Somewhere between a great brown ale and an ok stout. Only the chew is in question. Do like the taste combination. Aquilo (267), California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2008 Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is rather restrained roasted malt and sesame seeds. Flavor is very dry, ristretto espresso. As it warms, there is a flavor that reminds me of cottage cheese. It’s not as bad as it sounds, believe me. It is smooth, I guess. There is nothing really remarkable about this one, it’s just a decent stout. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2008 Bottle from Booze Bros. in Reno, NV. Poured a very dark brown, almost black. Smell of coffe and chocolate. A little on the dryer side for a stout, which really brought out the roasted malt flavor. Great brew!!
