Pours a very dark brown, not quite black, with a moderate beige head that lasted through to the end of the beer and left partial lacing on the glass. Light but pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. More flavorful than the aroma would indicate with roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee all present. Light bitterness at the finish. The mouthfeel was a bit thin, otherwise an overall solid brew. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Pours black with good beige head. The aroma has lots of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor does not quite live up with with a medium body and not much bitterness. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a very dark brown color with a beige head. Dusty malt aroma. Taste is of cocoa and sweet coffee. Thin mouthfeel, especially for a North Coast product. Smooth and dry finish. Not a bad beer, but slightly disappointing. Driftwood6 (214), USA

I probably shouldn’t even rate this beer, as I don’t like dry stouts as an overall style. It was better than Guiness, but nothing too complex. I guess it was fine for what it is-- a dry stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Black pour with a dark tan head. Nice moderate dark chocolate/powdered cocoa aroma, maybe some licorice in there too. Good roast component up front, followed by a lightly sweet chocolate malt character. Not really a thick enough mouthfeel, but the overall balance here is nice. zethca (62), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Dark prown appearance with small head that disappears quickly. Body is watery-light. Carbonation is too much for my taste. Malt presence is relatively subdued, finish was much better than initial sip. Highly disappointing having recently rated Old Rasputin my top beer. slacker90291 (15), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2007 12oz...I was happy to find this beer at BevMo, as I was getting burnt out on nitro-cans getting damaged during shipment...not bad for a CA brewer. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 11, 2007 (bottle) Pours dark brown with an off-white head that disappears. Taste contains some roasted malt, coffee, and upon warming some hints of brownie. Taste is quite chocolatey with a pretty nice finish of roasted malt/coffee bitterness that lasted a bit. Somewhat light bodied(could be a tad bit thicker), aggressively carbonated initially, but once it warmed it tasted much better. Not a bad brew.
