The color is dark brown and it has a fantastic brown head - looking like a stout should. The flavor is dominated by chocolate and coffee with sweet notes - all coming from a great malt blend. All in all a great beer. Papsoe (15004), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Roasted, lightly burned aroma. Medium body with accents of lightly burned malt and a hint of coffee. Light underlying sweetness all the way through. The malts leave quite some bitterness on my palate in the finish. 260206 omhper (12241), Stockholm, Sweden

Rich aroma of licorice and chocolate. Dry and salty with clean but rounded mouthfeel. Fairly roasty, coffee and aromatic citric hops dominate until a salty, bitter finish. Excellent hop profile and decent malt profile. Like most US microbrews it's an extrovert, flavourful beer, focusing on loads of flavour than subtle complexity. yespr (12225), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 4, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours black with a huge creamy and tan head. Roasted malt and somewhat wet woody hops note. Flavour is hardroasted malt and solid bitter. Goes into a more smooth flavour before the finish with a creamy texture containing notes of coffee and malt. Mild chocolate note too. Dry bitter finish with more of the same roasted malt flavour coming through. fonefan (11640), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 4, 2005 Bottle. Malty coffee aroma. Almost black colour, small creamy head. Creamy mouthfeel. Quite bitter, not sweet or malty. It tastes a bit like malt bitterness, not to my liking. oh6gdx (8886), Vasa, Finland
