Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Nice smooth chocolately taste with a roasted coffee finish. Very nice brew - will definitely drink more of this as the winter progresses.

But it is kinda thin and watery, too carbonated. good flavor and aroma but weak and too faint. snmalouff (9), Arizona, USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Mild aroma with a black colored appearance. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2009 very light and fluffy- mouthfeel of a nitro beer. Smooth and really drying to the mouth. Little bit of clove spiciness. Really fun to drink, I oculd down a whole session of these. phaleslu (567), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 20, 2009 12 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Pours a very dark brown, near black, with a small brown head that fades quickly and leaves a thin tan film on the beer and rim on the edge. Aroma of dark fruits (prunes, fig, raisins, plum), chocolate, barley malts, and coffee. The flavor didn’t do as much for me, was just too muted. Notes of dried and dark fruits- same ones listed above- that provide some sweetness and a little tart note, along with malts, chocolate, nuts, and yeast. Medium bodied, with a dry, light palate. With more body, the palate would be really nice because of the complexity of the flavors. Quick, dry, roasty finish, with dried fruits. After a few seconds, leaves the palate really dry. Interesting beer, worth a try for anyone who likes dry stouts. edward_violet (18), Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Dark dark amber liquid, light head.
Smooth, lightly bubbly on the palate. After swallowing, a quick rush of something runs up into the nasal cavity, like a wasabi rush.
Taste... Complex for a dry stout, simpler than some imperials.
Soy sauce, raisin, caramel, dark chocolate, hint of banana-like tones, not very heavy on alcohol flavor. Aftertaste of hops, slightly citrus to pine-like..
I’ll buy this one again. Duhast500 (203), , Massachusetts, USA

The color is a dark black with a deep maroon color when held to the light. Some slight head but no lacing.
The smell is light but has a malty flavor that has a pin of brown sugar and a little chocolate flavor as well.
The taste is some dark chocolate and a little roasted malt. Is a nice even flavor but not too strong.
It seems to be missing a little something but that may be me getting used to Imperial Stouts, otherwise this beer is a nice beer experience. It has a nice even medium body and feels great going down. It dies have a slight aftertaste but only the briefest.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a dark deep brown with a small, short lived, dense, tan head. The aroma is of sweet caramel malt, cocoa, and some roastiness. Taste is lead by roasted malts, then chocolate and coffee and a long lingering hopiness with some herbal spice. Body is thin with medium carbonation. RHeastings (426), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Thoroughly enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a nearly jet black color, with a small and relatively quickly disappearing light tan head. Low to moderate carbonation, which is positioned just about right between an English pub ale and an APA. Notes of caramel, bready malt, prunes, and cherries dipped in chocolate come through in the aroma. Very inviting, and perhaps evidence of not only the recipe, but also a careful hand with selecting a proper English yeast strain. There are also some almost acidic and sour characteristics, but they are somewhat restrained by the darker more roasty notes. The palate is surprisingly light across the mouth, but certainly not insipid. A complex interplay of the bready/biscuity characteristics of Maris Otter base malt, paired with some caramel, a dose of chocolate, and then the aforementioned dark fruity/slightly sour character. The finish is semi-sweet a bit roasty, leaving the yeast’s character to dance on the palate for a few moments. Overall, extremely interesting, unique, and well-crafted.
