Commercial Description:
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer. Available at the brewery. XII is 11.2% ABV

From 22 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black and with a creamy tan head. Aroma is dense barrel and roasted malt with a light liqourice note. Flavour is dense malty and liqourice in a complex and flavourful mix. Solid roasted and liqourice finish with clearly warming alcohol presence.

Bottle shared by yobdoog at BCTC. Thanks Trevor! Nose is roasty. These are all the notes I took. But I did write down some numbers, so I guess I’ll just enter them. It was a long day of drinking so give me a break.

Somehow I was able to hold this 16.9 oz bottle for a whole year! Pours a beautiful ebony which light doesn’t seem to be able to pass through. Wonderful bourbon aroma. Tan head. Bourbon, chocolate, caramel, oak,& coffee are pronounced yet well balanced. Bourbon flavor lets you forget that your drinking a brewery product. It doesn’t let you drink swiftly but relax to enjoy to the fullest.

Huge thanks to Boboski for this elusive treat. The aroma starts with bourbon, vanilla, oak and chocolate and further deep sniffs reveal stewed dark fruit, caramel and toffee. The body is deep black with a fairly large mocha head. Rich chocolate/cocoa on the first sip segues into fairly concentrated bourbon and perfumey alcohol. Caramelized and roasted malt notes also appear. The barrel aging seems to have thinned it some so it lacks a powerful flavor concentration, but it remains quite nice.

Noogfest ’08, thanks a lot JohnC. The body was black to ruby with a khaki colored head. The aroma was rich with vanilla and bourbon. There was also some oak and coffee. The taste was coffee and milk chocolate. There was also some pancakes, bourbon and vanilla. Decent, but a little bit dissapointing.

Pours a brown color with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel, some hints of dark fruit, and roast. Flavor is malty, caramel, oak, vanilla, bourbon, slightly fruity, and syrupy alcohol finish.
