Commercial Description:
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer. Available at the brewery. XII is 11.2% ABV

Bottle provided by (again) John C (amazing generosity) at Noog4. Dark chestnut pour with a nice thin head. Very enjoyable aroma. It’s creamy with bourbon and light wood notes. There is also some chocolate and a touch of sweetness left. The flavor is very nice and I enjoyed this blend of flavors much better than BB Speedway. Well integrated chocolate, malt, barrel & wood, bourbon and all in detectable amounts. The alcohol is there but not nearly as hot as some of the other BB aged brews I had that day. Good body, slick and not at all too thin. Very nice.

Bottle, courtesy JohnC. Dark brown pour, tons of carbonation and lacing, fluffy white head. Alcohol and roasted notes in the nose, some fruit esters, caramel and some molasses wrapped in licorice. Mellow flavors overall, roasted malts and chocolate, some caramel and a nice vanilla finish. Very smooth, so easy to drink and full of flavor.

Bottled. Tasting @ Kolding Bryglaug. Special thanks to thewolf for the share. Arom is very rich and has prunes/dark fruits, wood, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and roast. Pitch black coloured with a beige head. Taste is sweet with prunes, chocolate, bourbon and wood. Good intense bitterness and a lingering palate. These are the beers...

Bottle from trade. Dark color. Smell of malt, oak, bourbon/whiskey, vanilla and some chocolate. Tastes the same but the bourbon dominates. Warms you up!

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, malt, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and wood as well as light notes of bourbon. The alcohol leaves a slight alcohol burn in the throat.

Thanks for sharing, thewolf! Black with a small, but lasting, tan head. Aroma has fresh oak and bourbon dominating with some weak hops an chocolate notes. Smooth, classic stout flavour with licorice, chocolate and burnt malt, plus some bourbon.

Bottle @ thewolf-and-his-flock-of-sheep tasting session. Delicious aroma of hop, chocolat, hint of coffee, obvious barrel-aged notes, slight sweet. Strong taste of rasputin with whisky aged notes. Aftertaste is quite alcoholic and bellywarming. Great great stuff.

Bottle@TheWolf,tasting. Pours pitch black with a creamy lasting head & lacings. Aroma has bourban all over it. Taste is wood, roast, caramel & coffee. Warm, oily, slick, smooth, vinous & creamy. Like TheWolf says - the bourban is very powerfull but nevertheless wonderful!
