Commercial Description:
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer. Available at the brewery. XII is 11.2% ABV

[my 200th American rating]
Pours deep mahogany black with an impressive, staying, creamy beige head. Wonderful aroma, good bourbon notes, wood, roasted malts and caramel. Super creamy mouthfeel. Powerful flavour as well, lots of bourbon again, vinious, a bit on the sweet side, with a coffee like finish. Only drawback is perhaps the bourbon being so powerful. But still a wonderful impy stout.

Bottle. black beer with a nice light brown head. Nice chocolate, bourbon, vanilla aroma. Bourbon, chocolate flavor with a rich malt base. Great balance. Richer bodied. Lingering chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Great.

Thanks john-adam! Pours deep black with dark brown head. Aromas of burbon, vanilla, coffee, roasted malt, and alcohol. Nice thick body with flavors of malt, burbon, chocolate, and coffee in the finish. Wonderful brew. This was the X version.

Poured black with a brown creamy head. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla. Smells amazing. Smooth bourbon and vanilla flavors. As Brenton stated earlier is the only "flaw" is the body. Not as thick as others but still beautifully done. Thanks to Mreusch for suppling this a long time ago.

John_Adam comes through again sharing this gem Andrew and I. Got tons of bourbon flavors mixed with slashing vanilla and mocha characters as well. Strong alcoholic beer, the main flaw is the body. Way too thin for me, needs some darkness for a few years to thicken up. Age will work wonders for this beer. Get some of this one, great beer to try. Big thanks to AgentSteve for this one!

Bottle thanks to Agent Steve, sampled at "An evening with Pantanap #3. Dark brown with tan pancake head. Very nice bourbon aroma with cherry, fruity malt. Sweet roasted malt, nice vanilla, very nicely balanced. Medium to full and creamy. This beer is all about balance, I love that aroma and very nice body.

Thanks to padrefan96 for the bottle. Pours with more head than expected, color is not as black as expected. Aroma of anise, chocolate, bourbon, and dark fruits. Taste remains pretty true to the regular Rasputin, the barrel-aging semms to merely provide some extra seasoning. Slight smoke, with dark fruits and chocolatey bourbon. Vanilla shows itself once the beer has breathed a while. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, noticeable tannins. Good stuff.
