Smells of huge bourbon, oak and a hint of caramel and vanilla. Taste is big on the bourbon, but mellows out at the finish. Feels full in the mouth and is a sipper for sure. An enjoyable apartif beer.

Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts too. Flavor was only a little alcoholic, and a lot of vanilla and burbon and wood. Pretty good stuff. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottle. Nearly opaque brown-black with a large light brown head. Heavy bourbon note in the aroma, with dark chocolate, vanilla, and toast. Caramel, vanilla, dark alefruit flavors. Some roastiness then manifests with bourbon character. Some chocolatey sweetness in the finish, with some alcohol as well. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy, somewhat hot. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Drinking it next to the regular Rasputin, this offering was quite good. Nice bourbon notes didn’t overpower the beer, but provided a nice enhancement. I would definately recommend getting your hands on a bottle. Capa (970), Yokosuka, Japan
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Whoa, whiskey! Black with a deep tan head. The aroma is heavy on the whiskey and vanilla notes, with roasted malts, some tobacco, and sweet malts. Full body. Smokey roasted malts, whiskey, vanilla, buttered popcorn, some cocoa, and coffee. In a side by side with the original this version is much less earthy with a more intense flavor overall. Finish is sweet molasses and malty, with a bitter, burning tongue. Fricken’ amazing.
