Commercial Description:
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer. Available at the brewery. XII is 11.2% ABV

Pours an opaque brown with a dark cream colored head. Smells of huge bourbon, oak and a hint of caramel and vanilla. Taste is big on the bourbon, but mellows out at the finish. Feels full in the mouth and is a sipper for sure. An enjoyable apartif beer.

500 ml bottle thanks to boboski. Lots of burbon and wood in the flavor and the aromas. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts too. Flavor was only a little alcoholic, and a lot of vanilla and burbon and wood. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle. Nearly opaque brown-black with a large light brown head. Heavy bourbon note in the aroma, with dark chocolate, vanilla, and toast. Caramel, vanilla, dark alefruit flavors. Some roastiness then manifests with bourbon character. Some chocolatey sweetness in the finish, with some alcohol as well. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy, somewhat hot.

500 ml bottle (thanks to Davecooks) poured a translucent black with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, carmel, toffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, carmel, toffee, dark chocolate and light coffee with a smooth lingering semisweet finish.
A very tasty beer I highly recommend it!

Drinking it next to the regular Rasputin, this offering was quite good. Nice bourbon notes didn’t overpower the beer, but provided a nice enhancement. I would definately recommend getting your hands on a bottle.

Whoa, whiskey! Black with a deep tan head. The aroma is heavy on the whiskey and vanilla notes, with roasted malts, some tobacco, and sweet malts. Full body. Smokey roasted malts, whiskey, vanilla, buttered popcorn, some cocoa, and coffee. In a side by side with the original this version is much less earthy with a more intense flavor overall. Finish is sweet molasses and malty, with a bitter, burning tongue. Fricken’ amazing.
