| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 9, 2009 A- Very dark brown/black hue with small, creamy light brown head, excellent lacing throughout
S- Chocolate and coffee aroma with strong caramel/roasty malts
T- WOW! Sweet chocolate malts dominate, coffee roastedness tones, subtle bitter hops pop up near the end, very chewy and nicely balanced
M- Very full-bodied stout, creamy/chewy texture with soft carbonation
D- Surprisingly drinkable for a rather heavy stout, the 9% abv is masked mostly by delicious chewy hops, this brew could be a great post-dinner drink but the strong sweet malts makes it tough to drink several in one setting SHANER4 (371), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 5, 2009 Nearly a top-tier RIS. Pours black with a legitimate tan head. Roasted malt on the aroma. Fairly oily palate (yet not as much as some of the big RISes) with flavors of chocolate and coffee, some dark fruits, and a sweet alcoholic finish. Makes you miss the good ol’ USSR. leeburg (148), Juneau, Alaska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Impatiently, I tried this a little colder than I usually like. Interesting aromas. Cocoa and coffee as expected, as well as tar, roasted malt, even some cannabis. Momentarily sweet, then with flavors true to the nose, leading to a heavily bitter alcohol finish. Seems pretty true to the style. Strong. lordmeat (12), Aransas Pass, Texas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Even though it is a stout, it has a barly/red wine flavor. Very, very strong. Can really taste the alcohol. It’s almost too strong to drink in large gulps because of the strenght.
