sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 15, 2009 06 bottle courtesy of retorp.
Pours dark amber, still with light golden lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate.
Taste, plenty of roasted malts, with light notes of hops in after taste. Light coffee with thick grainy body.
One good and enjoyable beer, still very tasty with some age on. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Jan 15, 2009 Pours a beautiful dark black with a really nice head and lacing. Stong roasted malt aroma along with chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Taste is a fantastic espresso like coffee with the malts and chocolate covering up the alcohol perfectly. Nice mouthfeel with a slightly spicy aftertaste. A very solid brew. Haagnbus922 (7), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA does not count Jan 15, 2009 This beer I first tried at the "Blessing of the Bock" festival in Milwaukee, WI. When poured into my 8oz glass I was drawn in by it’s wonderful aroma. It pours dark like a black hole has opened up in your glass with no head. It has great flavor, but found the bitterness of it to be very harsh on my palate. Overall, I gained to insights from this beer. The first is that it is made of pure evil and the second is that I don’t drink with anyone until they have had this beer. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 14, 2009 2006 bottle, courtesy Degarth. Dark brown pour, practically black, with no head and little lacing. Slight oxidation in the nose, but mostly tons of roast, caramel, tons of molasses and some slight smoke. Flavor has a fair amount of roast and caramel, chocolate, some raisin, very nice. Aged wonderfully, smooth, full-bodied, good. ruggedman (613), Portland, Maine, USA Jan 13, 2009 On tap at Novare Res. Man this is a completely different beer on tap compared to the bottle. BIG and I mean HUGE bitter chocolate flavors throughout the beginning, middle, and aftertaste. Aroma is light almost a little watery very misleading. This stuff is amazing! BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Jan 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle in a snifter from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours black with a very thin, beige head. Aroma isnt very strong...burnt toffee, black coffee, and alcohol. Flavor of black coffee, alcohol, and burnt oak. Warms the roof of the mouth rather than the tongue...an aftertaste, but a nice one. Overall I think its a very good imperial stout...Id have to say its not as good as Flying Dog Gonzo...not as much flavor as Bells Expedition but wayyy more drinkable...Could drink a few. Very good beer. spaceycasey (10), , Texas, USA Jan 11, 2009 Creamy black body with a long lasting black head. Chocolate notes complemented by toast and sweet malt and the right amoung of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, finishes slightly dry. An amazing imperial stout! TheJollyOne (203), Kofu, Japan Jan 11, 2009 Black body under beige head. Licorice, dark sweets, burnt toffee and malt on the nose. Taste starts with dark ripe fruits, sweet burnt surgars, tar, finished with spices and a light roast malt. Thick palate, more fizzy than creamy. Very good balance, wow im a happy man right now. He could murder my Anastasia any day!
