EvilKingWilson (11), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Sep 23, 2009 one of my all time favorite imperial stouts. Nice brown head, tasted lots of chocolate and a little coffee. very pleasing to my taste buds Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Sep 22, 2009 A dark black beer with a nice tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, & roastedness. The taste is roasted chocolate cake, creamy, with a lot of flavors that goes down very smooth. Goes great with brownies. baraciisch (138), USA Sep 20, 2009 Dark black in color with nice tan head.... Aroma of dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee... Flavor is chocolates, prunes, coffee, and brown sugar fused into a malt heaven... Delicious beer... Kuzo (32), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 20, 2009 Poured from a bottle in to a snifter.
Jet black with creamy tan head. Good lacing.
Aroma is sweet, chocolate, coffee.
Taste is chocolate, coffee, and well roasted malts. Some hoppy bitterness.
Creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation. A dry chalky finish.
Very drinkable. Let it warm up a bit to really bring out the aroma and flavor.
20Sep2009 BrewingFan (45), Texas, USA Sep 20, 2009 Comes across very intense at first, almost too much. Give it a few minutes and the rest of it comes together. Great beer, probably the best imperial stout I have had. drseusszb200 (185), Florida, USA Sep 19, 2009 pours black with a nice head if you are aggressive with the pour. smells of burnt chocolate and possibly some coffee. taste is very bitter with a sweeter aftertaste. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown/black, really nice cocoa colored head, lacing throughout. Aroma has some right away burnt notes, also some vague chocolate notes and a hint of anise. Flavor is more of the same, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, anise and some very vague coffee notes. Finish is acrid, bitter and flavors linger on the tongue. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Sep 17, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Pour from the 12oz. bottle into a pint glass: Pours like an oil spill, aroma is of burnt, bitter coffee beans. Mouthfeel is like chewing on burnt toast with a block of solid wood on top...and then taking a shot of vodka. Speaking of, the alcohol has a fairly noticable taste for such a heavy stout and 9% abv. Drinkability: Oddly delicious. A good sipper. Rebuy: Yes. #124 on 17092009, DG.
