douqep (8), USA does not count May 16, 2008 There is something not right about this one that I can’t pin down. Alcohol content maybe (It will definitely sneak up on you.)? Hop level? Just an overall balance that’s a bit off? All that aside, it’s a readily available sensational brew. Loads of coffee, roasted barley, maybe slightly chocolatey. Nice dark brown head, You don’t want to polish off a 4 pack in one night--headache for breakfast. I have a theory that some hops will give you a headache more than others. Maybe the word I’m looking for is ’harsh.’ Maybe I should "lay this one down" for a couple of years. kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark tar brown with a thick brown head. Aroma of fruit when first poured. Smoke, fruit, coffee and spices. This beer is so well balanced that the EtOH can sneak up on you if you’re not careful. Khilger (3), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA does not count May 15, 2008 Pours a dark, coffee color with a beautiful chocolate head. Malty and smooth.. aftertaste is perfectly balanced. Great presentation. reeljob (14), USA May 15, 2008 Poured a thick, inky brown-black. Like the coffee, dark, bitter, malt, alcoholic bite, a very well balanced beer. This stuff is good. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 15, 2008 Coca-Cola color, light brown head. What jumps out at me is the carbonation with this beer. Heavier then most other stout, but in a nice, crisp way. The palate was thin. Tons of coffee in aroma and flavor. Dark fruits, roasted malt, not too bitter. Good Shit!!!! I’m shocked I never had this before....... mrw1zard (54), Birmingham, Alabama, USA May 14, 2008 Nice Imperial Stout. Pours a very dark brown, nice head.
