Pours dark amber, still with light golden lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate.
Taste, plenty of roasted malts, with light notes of hops in after taste. Light coffee with thick grainy body.
One good and enjoyable beer, still very tasty with some age on. beerbill (1970), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Pours an opaque black with a massive mocha head. This beer is a great pour. Malty, yeasty aroma. The aroma was pleasant but a bit light I thought for a stout. Flavors of roasted malt and coffee in the flavor. Warm alcohol finish not unlike a good scotch. A good beer, but when I think of Russian Imprtial Stouts, I am looking for more oomph. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA

Taste is coffee, alot of roast and hops up front, some dark fruits like raisins, with a roasty and hoppy bitter finish. Good alcohol warm in the finish too. One of the best stouts I have tried so far. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

Unfortuately, for me to really like an imperial’s appearance, i HAS to be pitch black. Aromas of woody hops, char, dark chocolate, roast, mocha kinda like coca puffs with a sliglty vineous twang. Big vanilla/char/roasted flavors with a long very long char finish. Flavors are huge, but the body sufferes somewhat from thinness. A top 50? thats arguable. A damn quality stout, definately (this tends to lean towards an imperial porter kinda IMO) Tastes awesome as a black and tan with FFF Alpha King fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Nice tan head that left very lasting lacing. Aromas were dark cherry and caramel. Flavors added coffee, chocolate, and an intensly bitter finish. Very good. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2008 It pours a deep oak coloured body with decent lacing all the way down. It almost tastes like a rich cappucino, except the head isn’t as frothy. Aromas of some sort of coffee drink, mocha, smoke. Mouthfeel is full and cremay with noticeable oak. Finishes slightly bitter with caramel notes.
