Aroma is vinous, grapefruit, dark chocolate, roasted barley. Taste is bittersweet: coffee, spicy hops, sweet malty goodness. Thick bodied with medium carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. What more should I ask from this world-class imperial stout?

Aromas include molasses, chocolate & cookie. Full flavored and creamy this one has a moderate alcohol & bitter finish that is a little chalky to go with a nice coffee flavor. Solid effort. obxdude10 (1563), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 21, 2003 One of the finest imperial stouts made, black in color with a thin tan head, a little bit of an alcoholic nose as well as bit of roasted maltiness, coffee undertones, the alcohol was very well masked with flavors hinting at dark roasted coffee & burnt barley, very sweet flavors as well as in the finish with a bit of alcoholic kick, very well balanced & full bodied, an excellent stout

Taste is a very dark roast, smokey coffee flavor. A little extra carbonation than other stouts. Feel is rich thick and smooth. Nice fnish with aproppriate bitterness and smokey taste. The ABV is masked well.
Very good. Even if the picture looks like he's maing the "loser" sign. MrBunn (1551), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Wonderful dark brown body with foamy tan head that dissipates with some minimal lacing. Aroma is somewhat subtle: earthy, peat, sweet flavors with some mild prune-like fruity complexity. Flavor is a nice molasses punch with some fruit (prune and apple?) and then some chocolate that lingers behind the scenes. There is also a bit of a bourbon-like twist that makes this great for sipping. The flavors seem to change quite a bit with the temperature on this one. mjs (1541), Helsinki, Finland
