| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Bottle - 12 oz. Opaque black body topped with a thick and lasting brown pillowy head. Gorgeous and intense malty aroma with roasty, chocolate and dark berries notes. Taste is bit less complex than the aroma. However, it is more than enjoyable. It hides the alcohol perfectly, carries plummy hints, and leaves a long and sharp bitter/roasty aftertaste. This is very close to my idea of a perfect Imperial Stout, and it is definitely not for lagerboys... ;-) beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 24, 2003 Solid black, black as a moonless night....one finger high head of super lumpy, solid crunchy top, but also looks fluffy and light, tan in color, leaves some spotty lace patches. Smell, dead on, is a great sweet dark chocolatey aroma with notes of dark fruit - banana, starfruit, mango, strawberry, and black cherry all noted. Taste is a swirling light chocolate, sweet and dark smoothness throughout, yum. Nice twinged hops in the finish that brings out just the right bitterness and dryness to say hello kindly and leave you with a smile. Feel is full and creamy with a way easy smoothness that makes this a amazingly drinkable stout. North Coast has a winner here. 17thfloor (1496), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a deep dark black with a light brown head. Initial aroma was lots of dark chocolate, coffee and an overall sweetness. As this beer warmed the alcohol became more apparent but was still pleasant and was never harsh. Flavor was coffee, chocolate and finished with a nice sweetness. Palate was smooth and this is an easy drinking beer that other then a slight aroma hides the 9% very well. redlight (1489), Winter Park, Florida, USA
