Coffee and vanilla nose. Pours black with a thick tan head. Roasted barley, espresso, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, with a hint of spice all the flavor. Very nice.

Very dark pour. The high alcohol content is masked by a nice coffee flavor.

opaque brown color, big thick beige head. nose is choc, coffee, and alcohol. Flavor is very boozy and warming, dark choc, again coffee, and a good dose of hops, also some good dark malts, should have bought a few.

Round 2, Beer 4 of a blind stout tasting. 12 oz bottle. Dark brown. Minimal tan head. Clear for almost an inch. Hoppy coffee and burnt sugar. Smooth, woody chocolate and grapes. A nice, rich bitterness lingers. Best of the round. This may actually have improved with time. Smoother than I recall.

Rerate - Nov. 1, 2005 - 3 years old. Gets even better with age. Beautiful complexity in both the nose and the body. Awesome!! Original Rating - July 3, 2002 Very dark ruby red color, big creamy light brown head. Full, fresh aroma of chocolate, coffee and alcohol - not necessarily in that order. Body doesn’t dissapoint. Very complex, big roasted notes, finishes smooth and very bitter. Lovely.
