Goodgrief (1043), Middletown, Delaware, USA Jan 20, 2008 March 2006 - After reading others reviews, I was a bit let down by this. It was good, but didn’t knock my socks off. Head and lacing were minimal and aroma was faint roasty smell. The flavor was nice and rich...dominated by extreme roastiness, almost to the point of burntness, and alcohol. I found the roastiness, the hops and the alcohol flavor all to be rather harsh and not that well blended. I give it props for being rich and having a kick, but not smooth at all, either in mouthfeel or flavor.
Uaru02 (14), Simpsonville, Kentucky, USA Oct 3, 2008 Nearly perfect stout. I am leaving room for the perfect one wich I haven’t tried yet. But, this is the best one yet (10/08). A truly enjoyable beer that you can savor each sip. Good for dead of winter days lounging by the fire. I must have if you can find it. Cory (10), , California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Coffee, molassis aroma, appearance is a very dark light-less brown with a brown head. toasted maltiness and a little bitternes. If you can find it get it, its worth it. They even have it on tap in random places around california if your lucky enough to stumble across one. KnutAlbert (2313), Oslo, Norway Oct 3, 2008 Bottle from Ølbutikken.
Dark with a ruby tinge, milk chocolate head.
Stron salty liquorice aroma makes my mouth water.
Complex aroma, lots of malt, nutmeg, white pepper, cinnamon. Ashy feeling on the tongue. slipy120 (22), Michigan, USA Oct 3, 2008 Very black pour, almost opaque. Has a very strong aroma of dark roasted barley that gives it an almost chocolate smell. Quite thick and has standard Stout bitter, yet pleasent, aftertaste. You should try it if you can find it. Great beer. timsilvia32 (244), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 1, 2008 Black pour, not much light or coloring even around the edges. Solid brown head. Roasty aromas, some red fruit and barrel aroma also. Fairly carbonated, but ends up being somewhat creamy. Roast/burnt malts, bakers chocolate, dark red fruit/port wine flavors. Med/full bodied. Finishes real clean and warm. The standout in the North Coast stable.
