Aroma was a heavenly blend of chocolate, espresso, and dark fruits. Excellent bitter flavor punctuated by notes of dark chocolate, strong espresso, plum, grapes, alcohol, and a sublime smoky roasted malt finish. Thick and creamy in the mouth, but never exceedingly heavy. Best imperial I’ve had to date, and I can’t wait to have some more. maeib (4760), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

The best beer I've had since joining this website. It has a vinuous smell with hints of coffee and licquorice. It is beautifully black with that off white head typical of the best stouts. the taste is warming, vinuous, roasty, alcoholic and extremly well-balanced. A fantastic beer which tastes stronger than 8.9% but at the same time invites you to have another (If only I'd bought another). krang (6), California, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 19, 2006 Equal parts coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. The sweet chocolate and bitter coffee compliment each other particularly well. kms399 (267), plymouth, Minnesota, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Pour deep orange/brown with a think, long-lasting frothy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and some smokiness. Lots of smokiness in the flavour, chocolate, black licorice and a fairly strong alcohol finish. I usually don’t like for strong alcohol tasting beer, but this one is an exception. Likerighteous (120), Pflugerville, Texas, USA

Poured like midnight with great big double latte’ mocha colored head. A delight to the nostrils promising heft and sustenance. Best stout to cross these two lips. Attractive packaging. Reasonable ransom. Worthy tribute to a humble man of God. noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 14, 2005 Thick near-black in the glass with a prodigious foamy dark khaki head which slowly reslves to one finger of foam and some nice lacing. Aromas of fruit esters, coffee, burnt toast, chocolate, toffee and yeast are immediate, notes of dark fruit, molasses, citrus, berries, and malt develop. Tastes of dark malt, bread/yeast, smoke, peat, earth, chocolate, herbs and hops, and alcohol/phenol Delectably bitter and strong. Flavors are complex and contrapuntal and continue to develop with each creamy mouthful. Not too fizzy, very chewy. Excellent example of an Imperial Stout. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA
