My second favorite Imperial. A great beer for reading Dickens in front of the fireplace. The chocalate and coffee flavors are perfectly melded. A strong beer that makes you wonder where the alcohol is until you have finished it.

Bottled. This is a very complex brew - fruit, chocolate, coffee are the three things that came at me the most. Very warm feeling as it goes down. Not as good as Stone’s imp. stout, but this is damn close.

Wow! Very dark and is pretty much black. It has a big thick tan sludgy head that lingers for quite a while. Aroma is of roasted malts. The flavor is of chocolate, coffee, and fruit. This is one of the best imperial stouts I've had. Very enjoyable beer!

This black stout has a moderate head, that is golden-brown and creamy. The aroma has notes of dark roasted malt, fruits, coffee and alcohol. The flavour has a nice "bite", and yet it’s wonderfully mellow and smooth. The notes are light sweetness, coffee, licorice, bitter chocolate, fruit, smoke. The notes develop nicely throughout the whole experience and the bitterness is just right. It’s a truly fantastic stout, that I look forward to storing and re-sampling. This beer was worthy to be my rating # 500, and the date was May 30 2005!!

Bottle from Abingdon, VA. Flavors of coffee, chocolate and burnt malt. Dark black color with medium head. Fantastic.

In bottle. A very dark brown with a tan head that is very frothy. It tastes of coffe, chocolate, and a slight bitterness. There is a sweetness to this but it is offset by a dark roast flavour that creates a fine balance. Late warmth of alcohol and caramel. Easily one of the best stouts I have enjoyed!
