It’s down and dirty, used motor oil, mud in a bottle. It’s very thick with amazing roasted malt flavors, and a slight sweetness. Possibly one of the darkest, frothiest I’ve ever come across. Top notch beer, and by far the highest quality you will see in a local grocery store (they have it in Harris teeter as 4-packs) deduchar (32), Rhode Island, USA

The palate, however is a little weaker than some other stouts. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA

Poured an extremely deep brown that was almost black with a nice off-white head that didn’t hang around too long. Aroma was malty with notes of chocolate and coffee, but is nicely balanced with the hops. Mouthfeel is great and drinkability is pretty good for a beer of 9%abv. Great, great beer. duffman462 (162), Gainesville, Florida, USA

Pours completely black, with a small tan head. The nose is incredible. Tons of espresso, like entering a coffee shop, with more dark cocoa and some great toasted malt. Flavor is exceptionally complex. Coffee, chocolate, sweet (but not cloying), licorice, and then....ahhhh, yes, the toasted malt, camp fire smokiness, hops, and a warming alcohol finish that begs for a second glass. Quite rich, too. May contribute to the growth of a third love handle. But well worth it.... thenick (746), North Bellmore, New York, USA

What a beer this is...flavor is chocolate in the beginning but many other spices and flavors are detectable as this dances across your palate. A very complex imperial stout and a true winner. tamedturtle (10), Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania, USA

Not a big fan of their other beers, personally I think that they are over priced for what they are, but this beer hit it. Head dissolves quickly but very complex flavor of coffee and chocolate. Nice body have to agree with the person believe like a porter but a more roasted malt and more hop bitterness perfect balance perfect beer! 100! hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA

I don’t usually like it when beer is packaged in 4-packs, but this is such a hearty brew that it makes perfect sense. mmmbeer (762), Austin, Texas, USA

Poured black, knew I had a personal favorite (if it don’t look like used motor oil, most of the time it’s not beer). Strong coffee and dark chocolate taste, barely any taste of the alcohol in it. Will try again, and many more times to come.
