| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Appearance: Pours out black, with a thick tan head that slowly fades to a thin ring of lace.
Smell: The aroma is a rich, vibrant framework containing scents of licorice, espresso, sweet chocolate, and ripe, vinous fruits.
Taste: Flavors Ahoy! Bitterness and black roasted malts fight for attention. Hints of molasses, toffee, mocha, and spice help to round out the flavor.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied; feels heavy on the tongue. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. The ABV provides for a warming, satisfying finish.
Drinkability: Very enjoyable. For anyone who’s had this beer before, let me just say: Booyah!

Also other normal stout notes of coffee, etc. Complete dark black with beige head. Sweet chocolate start, bittersweet nicely roasted flavor, expresso bittersweet finish along with a heavy roasted flavor. All the flavors are in other stouts, but this beer just seem to do it better! The great taste lingers, and a little burn of the tongue is the only way i would notice the 9%. Lovely warming feeling afterwords, must be the emply stomach, or the alc% is stronger with age. An amazing beer, will buy this everytime i see it! jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA

The hops are very balanced, some pine and grapefruit. Pours very dark, with a tan head that lasts nicely and is frothy. Taste is fantastic, great hops, with great dark malts, a touch of sweetness balanced against bitterness. Again what a great tasting brew. The mouthfeel is decent with good carbonation, makes for rather easy drinking, no alcohol burn, just great taste from start to finish. A very, very nice brew I really think more impy’s should taste like this one. Nice hops and malts nothing out of balance.
