Deep black color set off by tan head. Aroma is bitter chocolate, coffee, and fruit (raisin/plum?). Flavor is chocolate and roasted coffee. Alcohol subdued. Nice thick body. Long finsih on this complex beer. Brilliant!

Bottle. Black full bodied stout with a nice brown head. Powerful taste with some coffee and chocolate. Really good balance between sweetness and bitterness. One of the best stouts I have ever had.

Thick, creamy looking tan head. Black as motor oil. Aroma of maple, chocolate, coffee and resiny hops. Initial sweet flavor with some acidic bite. Lively carbonation. Earthy smoky flavor with licorice. Full body and lingering finish. 9% alcohol well hidden.

Appearance: Pours out black, with a thick tan head that slowly fades to a thin ring of lace. Smell: The aroma is a rich, vibrant framework containing scents of licorice, espresso, sweet chocolate, and ripe, vinous fruits. Taste: Flavors Ahoy! Bitterness and black roasted malts fight for attention. Hints of molasses, toffee, mocha, and spice help to round out the flavor. Mouthfeel: Full-bodied; feels heavy on the tongue. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. The ABV provides for a warming, satisfying finish. Drinkability: Very enjoyable. For anyone who’s had this beer before, let me just say: Booyah! If you haven’t had this beer before... Try it: Today!

Pour was black with a tan head. This one is best served at about 50 - 55 degrees. The chocolate and caramel come out at this time and you get a nice achohol kick at the end.

A roaste flowery hop scent, very nice. Also other normal stout notes of coffee, etc. Complete dark black with beige head. Sweet chocolate start, bittersweet nicely roasted flavor, expresso bittersweet finish along with a heavy roasted flavor. All the flavors are in other stouts, but this beer just seem to do it better! The great taste lingers, and a little burn of the tongue is the only way i would notice the 9%. Lovely warming feeling afterwords, must be the emply stomach, or the alc% is stronger with age. An amazing beer, will buy this everytime i see it!

Bottle 51F Snifter. Nice hop aroma, with strong dark malts, nicely done. The hops are very balanced, some pine and grapefruit. Pours very dark, with a tan head that lasts nicely and is frothy. Taste is fantastic, great hops, with great dark malts, a touch of sweetness balanced against bitterness. Again what a great tasting brew. The mouthfeel is decent with good carbonation, makes for rather easy drinking, no alcohol burn, just great taste from start to finish. A very, very nice brew I really think more impy’s should taste like this one. Nice hops and malts nothing out of balance.
