For starters, it has a great dark color and a nice brown fluffy head. Aroma is strong and varied. Likewise, the taste has several hints, ranging from Chocolate, to coffee, to some sweet/fruity taste. Aftertaste is strong and long lasting. Also, the beer becomes better after it has sit a while and you have had a good amount of it. Well worth the cost and proof that North Coast is all about quality. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA

Black hued stout having large exceptional off-white shaving cream head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with fresh hop flowers. No discernable carbonation but difficult to tell. Full bodied with creamy texture that starts with a slightly sweet malt complex flavor with hints of toffee, raisin and hop and finishes with lingering roast malt and moderate zing of hop bitterness. A savory, delectable hoppy stout, one of my personal favorites. Taverner (862), San Ramon, California, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 8, 2005 Pours an opaque deep brown with half inch head. Aroma is a complex mix of syrup, brown sugar, rose, and a chocolate coffee liqueur. Smell is inviting and very indicative of the taste. The flavor contains dark chocolate, hops, dark roasted coffee beans. Very smooth going down with low carbonation and no alcohol taste. The higher alcohol content is well masked by the roasted malt and hops aftertaste. This is a very good after dinner beer or perhaps accompanying a heavy steak and potato meal. I wished the head lasted a bit longer to add a creamier feel.
