A bit of fruitiness and roast througout with a malt bite in front and a chocolatey finish. Well worth the trip to Richmond. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Body is black with minimal brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and porty. Taste is robust and the high ABV is not noticeable. The chocolate and coffee standout but are nicely blened with the roasted malt taste. Finish is smooth and creamy. A Stout Lovers dream! doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA

This baby pours black. Big thick head that mostly diminishes. Big time strong coffee aroma and wonderful dark chocolate. Taste matches the smell, for the most part. Not much of an alcohol taste, but one can feel the warmth. This is right on style. I’ve had this on tap and in the bottle. This is great and relatively cheap and accessible RIS. oh6gdx (8905), Vasa, Finland

Roasted malt in aroma with hints of coffee and toffee. Roast, smoke, toffee and caramel in flavour. Old coffee in aftertaste. Very nice Imperial Stout. entertheiceman (242), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Full bodied, pours black with a small brown head. Large aroma of roasted chocolate, coffee, and some alcohol. Tasted is like that of many fine stouts with a thick coffee and dark chocolate maybe even a little wine/fruit taste but it is the biggest tasting stout I’ve tried. The flavor really explodes for lack of a better word. Also this beer is reasonably priced for such a high alcohol content and quality. Beware the warming in thy stomach good man! It is a black solution with a thick brown head and great lacing. This rich smooth beer offers the palate a plethora of flavors: malt, chocolate, anise, a nutty/biscuit flavor, and smoke. The smoke taste appears briefly in the finish and then later in the aftertaste. A nutty chocolate/coffee taste follows the brief intro of smoke in the finish. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 14, 2005 Bottle. Beautiful almost black pour with a mahogany glint on the edges. Head was initially 1/2" and frothy, but died down after a few seconds. Very nice lacing as this brew got in my belly. Aroma was wonderful, with milk chocolate, roasted barley and assorted dark fruity malts. Struck me more as a sweet stout in the nose, which certainly isn’t a bad thing. Flavor has the pop of a nice imperial... deep roasted barley, currants, a shot of espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and a citrus twist with some well-balanced bittering hops. Alcohol made a nice warming presence at the front of the finish, and some roasted coffee was with me for a while after this was gone. Great complexity and pure enjoyment throughout!
