to date, 01/2006, the smoothest imperial stout compared to any other in the same class. very rich but not overly dry, would be appealing to many.

The rich, dark appearance and stouty smell say "Drink me!" Even more pleasant than the aroma is the flavor, complex but without any bitterness. A must for anybody who loves stouts and porters.

On draught nitro at Bailey’s Tap Room--Deep black, slightly brown body. Beautiful creamy grey-brown head. Creamy as the day is long. Waves of delectable perfection. Silken yet full bodied. Chocolaty, robust, and spectacular. This is the RIS to compare all others by.

What an incredible stout. This brew pours a deep coffee color with a nice brown head. The aroma pours out of the bottle with the brew--full of chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is so warm and rich, that you want to savor this beer forever. The taste is definitely roasted malts with a nice chocolatey hint in there as well. Incredible full flavor! No aftertaste really, and you don’t even know your drinking a 9% ABV stout. One of the best stouts around."

12 oz. Opaque and dark, with a huge head that lasts & creams the glass. Aroma of dark fruit and almost-burnt caramel and chocolate. Flavor is all that plus some smoky mesquite, coffee, toffee, vanilla and oak. Body is medium-heavy, slightly watery in a drinkable way and smoothly carbonated. Alcohol not noticeable. Awesome and dangerously drinkable.

Beautiful looking beer with nice, frothy head. Good balance of stoutie malt and hops. Smooth, complex flavor of burnt coffee with slight notes of plum.
