Bottle: Pours dark brown with a thin head and light lacing. The nose is strong with maple syrup and hops with an alcohol bite. Very rich and malty with tons of dark fruits, woods and old things that should be sniffed. Blends well with the brandy and finishes ethereally. Very nice.

Bottle. [thanks for sharing, cgarvieuk]
Pours clear brown with a small, frothy, yellowish head that soon disappears. Aroma is brilliant. Oak, toffee, milky chocolate, sherry/brandy, roasted malts, raisins (en masse), raspberries and vanilla. Low, prickly carbonation and a great oily mouthfeel. Flavour has milky chocolate, raspberries, raisins, plums, oak, sherry and cherries. Light liqourice in the finish. Stunning sipper!

Cbkshubert shared this one with me. Brandy? Aroma was wet bourbon wood with some caamel malt. Murky brown body with tan head. Flavor good blend off bourbon, vanilla caramel and some chocolate. Smooth ale to drink wish I had another swig as the notes of beers had pile up

Thanks to Solomon420 for this longtime want. I do belive this was a 2005 bottle. Bottle poured into a challis produced a slight off white head that faded fast to nothing. The body of the brew was a dark caramel brown in color with light tan colored highlights. The aroma made this brew it was incredible brandy and woody fragrances filled the air never mind my head. I noticed the smell of caramel and toffee and molasses as the beer warmed this brew is a sipper as you could guess The flavor of the brandy barrels come through first then as the brew warms you start to get some awesome old ale flavors of caramel, and other flavors involved with the sweet malts. It felt nice and thick in my mouth with some awesome syrup stickiness from all the sugars in the brew. Not a trace of alcohol flavors in this brew at all Great Old ale I do really appreciate the style more and more. I had an awesome time celebrating the 4th while sipping away at this great American brew. I would defiantly seek out another I think it was well worth the price

Pours a dark brown ruby with orange highlights and a minimal head. Aroma shows some oxidation, but it fits, along with vanilla, wood, and hazelnut. Flavor is big and sweet the way I like it with raisin, caramel, brown sugar, wood, just tons of good sweet dessert flavors. Finishes with wood, toast and vanilla. This was just awesome and really has it more together than the bourbon version. Bigger mouthfeel too. I want more!

Bottle. Rating #3700. Thanks to MaltOMeal!. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a long malty dark fruit and brandy aroma with some hints of vanilla. Long warming malty dark fruit, chocolate and raisin flavor with some hints of brandy and vanilla. Has a long malty caramel and dark fruit finish with some hints of chocolate and vanilla. Very nice. Thank you again Bill for this one.

2006 Bottle - Thanks Sam! - Pours dk amber with a small off white head...aroma is plenty of barrel oak, vanilla, raisins, slightly vinous and everpresent with brandy....flavour is sweet vanilla, fairly hot booze, caramel malt, fruit...the alcohol is manageable given that no one plans on drinking this to themselves...great flavour!
