Commercial Description:
Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers' art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends and unique flavoring elements have elevated the beers of Belgium to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. PranQster follows in this tradition using a mixed culture of antique yeast strains that results in a floral nose, a full fruity flavor and a clean finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a small foamy off-white head that quickly fades into a thin layer. Some light lacing around the glass. Aromas of orange, wheat, and some sweet banana. Flavors are clove, lightly bitter orange, and yeast. This is a medium to full-bodied beer. It has a nice crisp mouthfeel. Good dose of carbonation. You can taste a hint of alcohol at the finish. Overall, this is a good effort from North Coast.

Date: 4/29/2007
Event: River’s Bend Belgian Workshop / Abbey Dubbel Brewout
Location: Ken’s House
Serving: 12 oz bottle

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Sweet orange, wheat, corriander.
Appearance: Cloudy/murky golden orange with a small, light beige-colored head that leaves some nice lacing.
Flavor: Lemon/citrus with some sugary maltiness. A little alcohol is noticeable, but not too much for 7.6% Alc./Vol. There is a nice, lingering apricot flavor on the palate as well.
Palate: Medium body; moderate level of carbonation.
Overall: Surprisingly good and very quaffable. A long overlooked/passed up beer...

12 oz bottle poured into a goblet. Attractive orange hued body with rapidly diminishing head. Strong banana, pear and apricot aromas on first impression. Flavor is a bit sweet but balanced somewhat by alcohol. Fruity yet clean. A great beer, but not as good as Duvel.

12 oz bottle. Wow this is a great American interpitation of the Belgian style. Where I found most of my other ratings excelled in appearance and palate that is where this one let me down. Poured a hazy golden/orange with a tiny head? What isn’t this supposed to be a Belgian style? The aroma then stepped it up with floral, citrus, yeast, coriander, and spice notes. The palate let me down and was to full and not as light and crisp as it should have been. Flavor steps it up though and has lots of yeast, spice, coriander and orangey citrus coming through. One fantastic beer even though I only rated it a 4.

This reminded me more of a wheat beer than a Belgian. A beer that I may one day revisit.

Big head goes south fast leaving half laced glass (3xfast) Lots of yeast and fruity esters, plenty of banana, some candy sugar and alcohol, same smell, same taste. Aggressive carbonation in the mouthfeel. Tastes like a strong, fizzy hefe-weizen.

Bottle. Orange/gold color, very thin white head. Wow, great aroma, some banana-cloves, wheat and bubblegum. Taste is somewhat reminiscent of a hefe yeast profile with some more spice and a little sour. Finish is a little sour, gets you in the back of the throat and somewhat dry. Very interesting.
