Commercial Description:
Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers' art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends and unique flavoring elements have elevated the beers of Belgium to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. PranQster follows in this tradition using a mixed culture of antique yeast strains that results in a floral nose, a full fruity flavor and a clean finish.

"Mild yeasty aroma with some sweetness and spice, lemon also appears. Smell reminds me a lot of the typical Unibroue aromas. Beer looks burnt with a yellowish ting. A thick white cap with great retention sits on top. Taste is fairly mild and has a strange bitter tang in the finish. A chemically flavor that reminds me of lemon is very noticeable and for only 7.6% the alcohol is a little to noticeable. Flavor is very spicy and has the Unibroue yeast taste. Maybe to much floral perfume in her to. It’s a good beer but Unibroue destroys this as far as I’m concerned. Now beer is very warm and I taste burnt rubber or is that liquorish? I don’t know but I’m not a fan. "

THOUGHTS: I could have sworn that I had rated this before when my girlfriend gave this to me as part of my anniversary gift, but I double checked before drinking it and I didn’t. I must have had it prior to joining RateBeer. Very Belgian. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, dark, golden yellow with an average, white or slightly off white head that quickly diminished. The aroma was moderate malt, light to moderate sort of doughy yeast, pear, peach, apricot and candy sugar. The initial flavor was sweet, acidic and bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet, a little sour and a little bitter with a long duration. There was fruitiness, candy sugar, peach, apricot, grape, yeast, alcohol and grain. The medium to full body was slightly syrupy and fairly dry with lightly fizzy carbonation and a light astringent, light alcoholic and dry finish.

I was not impressed with this one. I got some sweetness on the nose. Poured a very pale gold color with little to no head at all. Carbonation sucked. with was very cloying in the mouth and no pleasant going down. The taste was mellow with some sugar and no spice. Yeasty and too tart... Won’t be having this one again soon

Bottle. Pours golden with little white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is banana and cloves with brown sugar notes and a yeasty background. Flavor is light with notes of banana, caramel, and a light bitterness. Finish is clean and light.

Very much enjoyed. Golden, a bit cloudy, honeyish with little head. Aroma of citrus hops and yeasts. Unfortunately it was served too cold (and to anyone not enjoying this one, I suggest letting it sit awhile) but after it warmed the flavors really came through. Fuzzy peach, brown sugar, coriander, clove, spice--well balanced.

Aroma is a little funky/sour and off-putting. Golden color is lovely. Flavor has a sour note which always hits me wrong. Not my style. Tried a bit with and without the sediment from the bottle. Flavor was mellower and better with the sediment.

A solid Belgian style brew that tastes very close to Victory’s Golden Monkey, though I am a bigger fan of the latter. No head really, with a slightly herbal flowery aroma. That beautiful golden color, though cloudier than the Golden Monkey. Flavors were spicy (Coriander etc.) and herbal, some of my favorite.
