Commercial Description:
Malt and hops are beautifully married in this full-bodied, copper-red Pale Ale. Red Seal Ale is generously hopped in the traditional manner for a long, spicy finish.

???This was my favorite beer a few years ago, and hadn’t had one in quite some time. This was a major disappointment. The aroma specifically is off. I feel bad for saying this, but the aroma reminds me of diaper...??? That alone dropped this from a 4 to a 3.2. Is North Coast loosing it? Under new management? I found pranqster to a major disappointment, Brother Thelonius came up short for me too. Sad times....

Had two Red Seal Ales on tap at Old Bag of Nails. Pours a amber cover into a pint glass. Has a sweet hoppy flavor.

Pours a nice light brown with a big fluffy head that lasts for a while. The nose is not hugely hoppy but just right for a pale ale. Maybe a little too carbonated with a hint of sweetness although it is moslty dry with a bitter aftertaste that has a mild spiciness.

On tap at The Rockford, Raleigh. An old favorite, and an unassumingly pleasant beer. A big copper pour with a fluffy head and lasting retention. The nose is pleasantly hoppy, but with bready malts evident. Chewy body, not unlike SNPA, but the finish is grassy and hoppy.

12 ozer. Poured a clear amber color with one finger of off white head. Aroma was of grassy hops. Flavor was sweet malt to balance out the hops. Very good beer.

Well another North Coast that actually rather liked this one. This beer fared much better then the Scrimshaw-yikes. Dark copper with small head. Caramel malts and some hops. A earthy quality with some citrus notes -eh. Had some great Spring House tasters with this and so this one not faring as well but a good session. Maybe down the road try some fresher stuff.
