Commercial Description:
Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

On-tap at Najas. Pours hazy straw yellow with a moderate white head, spider web lace. Smells subdued sweet malty, slightly fruity. Tastes sweet and syrupy malty with some fruit. Smells a little grainy with some hay as well. Medium, slightly syrupy body, ok carbonation.

Draft at Monster Bs. I am not a big pilsener fan, but this brew is extremely clean and refreshing. Very dry palate with a subtle but distinctive hop flavor. Not bad.

12 oz bottle, via cloudskipper. Pours a clear gold body with a one finger fizzy white head that faded slowly to a wispy film. Very bready and crackery malt nose with a slight grassy hoppiness. The flavor is moderately bitter hoppiness with a slight sweet crackery maltiness. Fairly short finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Not a whole lot of character to this one, but it’s quite drinkable.

Poured from the bottle, a clear gold with a nice medium sized white head. A malty aroma with a hint of yeast. Light flavor, with a bit of spice and a hit of some citrus coming through. Crisp finish. A very refreshing beer, but came up short on the taste.

330 mL bottle. Pours a clear gold with an okay white head. Nose is oats, corn, and water. Appearance, nose, and taste is like a macro. Very thin and watery on the palate. This is a pilsner? A major disappointment from the creators of Old Rasputin.

Pours a golden color with a nice white head. Taste good for a pilsner dispite my adversion to that type of beer. 12 oz. bottle

Not my favorite style, but an excellent example of what a quality product North Coast is capable of. The golden pour reveals aromas of grass, straw, and touch of floral/citrus. Flavor is not phenominal, but because the beer is so crisp and smooth it drinks very pleasant and clean. This would be a great summer beer.
