Commercial Description:
Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Light gold pour with a nice thick bright white head and significant lacing as I drink. Smell is fresh, clean, slightly malty and a bit more hoppy. Taste is smooth, clean, with a mild hop flavor. There isn’t a big bitter bite, like in a lot of pilsners, but it is simple and refreshing. A touch of hops and sweetness in the finish. A great easy drinking session beer. I really like this one, even though its not exactly what I’d expect in a pilsner.

Draught. Light beer, easy to drink. Subtle flavors, hoppy and malty, balanced. Pretty good.

clear golden with a nice fluffy lasting white head. decent lacing. light sweet corn aroma with a touch of grassy hops. sweet corn biscuit flavor with a bit of dry grassy hops. finish just a bit too sweet. the finish becomes fairly dry as it sits but just doesn’t have that sharp crisp bitter finish that you want from a pilsner. light body. moderate to lively carbonation. drinkable....just not what i wanted out of this beer.

Draught at Mellow Mushroom Light orange pour with small head and decent lacing. Almost no aroma, light macrobrew flavor. Something fruity and off in the flavor too. Not impressed.

Well balanced, clean, refreshing. Its going down very easy this Wednesday evening. Hops up front and not too aggressive in the finish, which exactly what I feel like at this moment. Bit too dry. Overall a nice chillout while your working at home beer. Yeah.

Rated 6/30/07. Golden body with a small white head. Decent malt and hop balance, but nothing unique. A good pilsener, just not outstanding.

Plain, gold and orange with a good white head on it. Fruity aromas with mild hop characteristics. Little hop bite, lots of grains detected in the flavor. Overall, North Coast usually delivers a better product than this, but I understand the need to feed the masses...
