Commercial Description:
Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Pours clear yellow with a white head that has decent retention. Aroma is light with sweet maltiness and spicy hops. Initial taste is smooth malt with a bit of corn flavor. Finish comes across with spritzy hops and them some lingering sourness mixed with the hops. It is an okay pilsner. Nice to have, but don’t think I’d go out of my way for this one.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of hops and sweet malts. Flavor is carbonated, sweet upfront with a slight bitter finish.

Light yellow-golden with average carbonation. Mild grassy aroma. Starts dry then becomes grassy and wet finish with mild grassy bitter aftertaste. Pretty tame. Seems much smoother than most of this style.

Very pale, yellow pour with a tiny head. Light, refreshing taste, with a decent noble hops and lemonyness. Not quite dry enough, though fairly crisp.

Bottle: Musty grain aroma. Bright gold body with thin white head. Flavor was mild bitter with some corn and wheat malt mash. Not very clean nor crisp but rather more like swill. Miller lite is cheaper. Dry palate.

Beer pours a clear, medium gold color with a small, frothy, white, mostly and very quickly head. The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain and trace note of caramel; hoppy with moderate notes of herbs, light notes of resin/pine; yeasty with a moderate note of dough, light damp basement and a trace of champagne-like B vites; miscellaneous note of moderate honey. The flavor is moderately bittersweet with a longer-than-average, moderately bitter finish. A trace of a metallic and husky aftertaste. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
